Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms

This 30-acre National Historic Landmark is the 1911 estate of Gustav Stickley. Internationally known for his multiple roles as a philosopher, publisher, social critic, and leader of the American Arts and Crafts Movement, Stickley is also associated today for his straightforward furniture, sometimes called “mission” or “Craftsman” furniture.
The centerpiece of the park-like estate is Stickley’s massive Log House, which exemplifies his philosophy of building in harmony with the environment by using natural materials. The farm and its buildings are the only place Stickley built for his own use. Stickley’s originally envisioned the property as a farm school for boys, a vision that did not come to fruition. Instead, Stickley and his family lived at Craftsman Farm until 1915.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO
- Tour the Log House, restored to its 1910-1917 appearance. The house is furnished with an extensive collection of Craftsman furniture
- View the North Cottage, a charming bungalow, one of the nine Stickley structures on the site that is open for special programs and by appointment
- Enjoy the meadows, wooded areas, walking trails, a pond and stream
- Walk the site to see the additional remaining structures on the farm property
