Squan Beach Life Saving Station

Established in 1902, the Squan Beach Life Saving Station is an historic site and maritime landmark located in the Borough of Manasquan. The facility was built to house volunteers and equipment used to save victims of shipwrecks off the Manasquan area coast. In the 1930s, the station became part of the US Coast Guard and served as the Manasquan Coast Guard until 1996. Today, the station features maritime historic displays and presentations for the public, a maritime environment for training purposes, and meeting spaces for community civic groups. The building is the only site in Manasquan listed on the National and State Registries of Historic Places.
