Korean War Veterans Memorial
Korean War Veterans Memorial, Jersey City , NJ 07302
201-915-3403
Located within the Morris Canal Park, a section of Liberty State Park also known as Colgate Park or Veterans Park, the Korean War Veterans Memorial pays tribute to the Hudson County residents who died during the Korean War. The memorial structure and sculpture is the winning design of a competition initiated by the Stevens Institute of Technology’s Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Siva Thangam and Dr. Henry Dobbelaar, Jr. The monument is surrounded by two semi-circular walls featuring eighteen engraved pictures depicting scenes and moments from the war. Within the center of the monument is a sculpture representing two soldiers, one injured and the other supporting him, and three obelisks supporting flagstaffs
Just across the Morris Canal Basin is Liberty State Park, which is the home to the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal and the 9/11 Memorial. Visitors can drive or enjoy a short ferry ride to the park from the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
