Situated in the shadow of Veterans Park, the John Abbott House Museum was home to John Abbott, a patriot who helped save the treasury of the colony of New Jersey from advancing British troops in Trenton in 1776. An 87-year-old bachelor when he died in 1795, John Abbott lived in the c.1730 house originally built by his father on the North side of the Crosswicks Creek. The home is listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
