Cornelius Low House

The Cornelius Low House is a National Register listed home built in 1741 for Cornelius Low, a wealthy merchant of Raritan Landing who settled in the burgeoning port community around 1730. The home is one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in New Jersey and sits atop a bluff overlooking present day Landing Lane and the Raritan River. The once-bustling port community of Raritan Landing vanished by the mid-nineteenth century, but the over 275-year-old Cornelius Low House stands today as a testament to the Raritan Valley’s colonial heritage. The museum currently hosts rotating exhibits about New Jersey history. Recent exhibits have included a centennial display on New Jersey during World War I and an exhibit on New Jersey diners.
